What is linguistics?
The study of the language is called linguistics. People who linguists called a linguist.

So linguistics is the study of the language, the language here is certainly human language is not the language of animals. Who is the person who becomes the inventor of linguistics? Inventor of linguistics is, Ferdinand de Saussure (1857 - 1913) are summarized in his book titled Course de Linguisticue Generation. This book was first published in 1916, translated into Indonesian But newly published 1988.
Scientifics Linguistics
Basically, every science, including linguistics experienced three stages of development, namely:
The first stage, the stage of speculation. In this phase of talks about something and how to draw conclusions do with speculative. Some branches of general linguistics

Several branches of applied linguistics
